ALT_CTRL is a collaborative project between Mairead McVeigh and Nick Brown of MASH Cinema. ALT_CTRL is an exploration into alternative ways of controlling digital devices and media content, including light, pressure, temperature, movement, sound and biometric sensors. The initial focus examined gesture recognition to control audio-visual software and electronic musical instruments, haptic feedback, video mapping onto moving targets, generative audio, and video synthesis based on information captured from the environment, including data captured from plants and insects. Below is video peformance of different video feeds culminated into a video performance of the collated research.
